I am indeed honoured to have this opportunity to present before you the consistent upward graph of our school’s achievements and thank you for being a significant part of this glorious journey.
The year 2019 is marked with many events and success stories. This can be attributed to the dedication and team spirit of the members of the management, teaching and non-teaching staff and students. Almighty has done great things for me, holy is his name. I bow before God the Almighty for His divine providence and protection.
Keeping in mind the valuable suggestions of the members of management committee we stepped into the new academic year 2019-20.
The school has stable strength and have 2231 students on roll, 81 academic staff, 4 administrative staff and 20 multitasking staff.
Blessing and inauguration:
The long awaited dream of having the East wing’s inauguration and blessing was done on 25th April 2019. To mark this event, Theresians prepared a grand annual day under the mega title “Radiance”, which was indeed a grace filled event for all theresians. Students excelled in performing their talents through mesmerizing cultural programmes, Theme and value based dance, drama, musical performance with professional sound system.
Our school’s beautified walls with quotes from Bible and eminent personalities are inspiration for theresians .
The long cherished dream of theresian family fulfilled by having an internal auditorium which has been well ventilated, provided with spacious stage, smart board system with projector, sound system for the multipurposes.
Well equipped and furnished science laboratories became a learning place for our young scientists. With availability of 12 class rooms, lavatory wing for girls helped us to bring a change in shift system. Now our school timing is from 7.20 a.m. to 2.15 p.m.
Academic Excellence :
Consistency is the key to success, in 12th Board examination, school result was excellent. Our top scorer in science stream was Pradeep Dalal who secured 94.2% and from commerce stream Sakshi Chawla with 89%.
Top scorer of class X Board examination was Gourav Mahammadpurkar who secured 97.6% and has brought laurels to the school by achieving 1st position in Burhanpur district.
Back to school:
Sr. Tesly, Principal of this school was transferred to Indore. We are ever grateful to Sister for her dedicated service of 6 years in this institution. Following her transfer Sr. Abhaya was appointed as the Principal.
The school reopened after summer vacation for teachers on 10th June and students on 24th June 2019, initiated with inter-religious prayer, welcoming the new Principal, felicitating class X & XII subject toppers and their devoted and committed teachers. Students arrived with new vigour & enthusiasms on their newly changed coloured uniform. Rev. Fr. John Victor the Manager of our school delivered the message on the theme of the year “you are a blessing”.
Teachers were recharged and refreshed by 3 days seminar conducted by Mr. Vijay Robert, founder and director of Million Talent.
School cabinet & investiture ceremony:
Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.
To instil and inculcate discipline, leadership skills, sense of responsibility and team-spirit, election for the school cabinet was conducted on 29th June and commemorated oath ceremony on July 6th July 2019. Priti Ganjewala of XII adorned the position of head girl and Pratham Kadwane of class XI as the head boy. They are assisted by cultural, sports and four houses captains and vice captains.
School magazine:
Theresian Icon “Mind Spark” which reveals the out pouring of our budding writers, poets and artist and it was unveiled and published by Dr. Sanjeev Kapadia, who appreciated the school efforts in bringing out the hidden talents of the students in and through this magazine.
Visit by Provincial and former Principal:
Rev. Sr. Roselin, the provincial superior of Christo Province and Rev. Sr. Tesly the former Principal visited the School, met all our staff and students and they inspired them with their words of wisdom.
Co-scholastic Areas:
To promote the competency and to bring out the talent of the students, they are encouraged to participate in various co-curricular activities. Staff meeting was held periodically to evaluate the activities and their teaching method.
Every Saturday competition like calligraphy, mimicry, fancy dress drawing and painting, extempore speech and essay writing, Rakhi making, Mehandi designing, best out of waste, poster making, rangoli and card making etc. were conducted during the course of the year.
The school has many students who not only excel in academics but also in the area of dance, debate, music. A lot of students have already performed on stage at various places, stadium and in other schools on different occasions.
National & religious celebration:
To create awareness and interest for our culture and traditions, a variety of celebrations, National and state festivals of different religions and observance of important days in awe and reverence are organised in school. Such as Patron’s day, Manager’s day , Principal’s day, children’s day, Teacher’s day, NCC day, Scout Guide, Yoga divas, constitution day, Hariyali day, M.P. foundation day, urdu day, Diwali, Id, Gurunanak Jayanti, Run for unity & sharing day. 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated in a special way. Our students took pledge to make our campus and society plastic free.
Annual sports meet:
Games & sports is the very fabric of a student’s life. It holds them together, builds character and promotes team work. The school has always been taking initiative to get the best talents in sports. This year too, we celebrated under the mega title “Benison” in the form of Annual Sports Meet -2019. Our students actively participated in various sports events at the inter-school, district, divisional, state level. Neti Vishwakarma of XII Commerce participated in chess competition at national level.
Modern Technology:
Our school is well equipped with 88 CCTV cameras, 27 smart classes board and updated computer lab with new software’s library with subject wise record as well as other general knowledge books.
Science Exhibition:
The students came forward with creative ideas on models & projects. Projects were represented at district level. Project on eco-tourisms by Ankur Jain of class XI science was selected for state level.
NTSE :
Students from class 6th to 12th participated in NTSE exam. The result awaiting
Empowerment Programmes:
Effective teachers those who are constantly learning, “staying updated is the key to success in any field”, especially in education. Keeping this in priority, to equip the teachers time to time various experts were invited for motivational seminars.
Seminars:
- Mr Vijay Robert, founder and director of 1 Million Talent conducted three days seminar focussed on holistic energy for change and learning positivity.
- Fr. Raju Anthony expertise our teachers by his talk on emotional management and personality development as teachers.
- Seminar on the topic “Teachers transformation” by Fr. J. Ben Anton was motivating.
- Awareness programme on Traffic safety rules, which was conducted by Additional Superintend of Police Mr. Mahidra Tarnekar and Mr. Sunil Patidar, Traffic TI, which was very informative and knowledgeable.
- Giants group & Jan Jagrati Sansthan conducted awareness programme on women empowerment & POCSO act for classes IX to XII .
- Smart class teachers training & review by Ms. Jaequalin & Mr. Gaurav was really excellent.
- Seminar on disadvantages of mass media by Mrs. Sadhna Mishra & Rachit was enriching
- Focus on sex education by Sr. Archana & Usha Priya, which was appreciated by many students specially girls
- Mrs. Reena Charles from Ek Ehasas foundation, Delhi conducted 3 days seminars for all students, parents and teachers. The response of Parents and students was encouraging.
- Seminar on Skills & talents, carrier guidance and how to be successful in life for our students by Captain Jaison Thomas was awesome and motivating.
- Teachers were sent for in- service training programmes & workshops to enhance their teaching skills.
Never skip app:
Introduction of Never Skip App smoothens the communication with parents, students & teachers. Birthday wishes, home work and student absentees record through messages were appreciated by parents. With the help of app arranging question paper and mark entry became easy. The progress card preparation, on line fee collection details, modules of transfer certificate and Character certificate became easier.
A little help to special ones:
“You become a human only if you posses the human qualities” with this purpose of imparting values, social awareness, sense of co-operation and sharing among them and with others,
Theresians observe the month of December as thanks giving month.
Students contributed money to buy edible things to distribute among deaf and dumb students. They also collected clothes and blankets for the poor and needy. Acknowledging the cooperation and contribution of our supporting staff was an unique event, which brought an attitude of gratitude among students.
Conclusion :
Keeping in mind the holistic development of our students. We have always worked towards giving them ample opportunities to inculcate all the life skills needed to be successful in today’s world.
With this I seek God’s blessings for each one of us to keep accomplishing new heights of success.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. John Victor our Manager for his constant guidance and support at every step of our functioning.
He has truly been the pillar of strength and our motivating force to be better day by day.
